about

The third part of an uneasy trilogy, VEGAS TRAIN continues many of the hallmarks of DIMURO HOUSE and SNOUTBURGER: Acoustic guitar, heavy crunch guitar and leads, heavy use of the Korg digital / analogue synth, and Eric Scott on drums.

While SNOUTBURGER had an entire conceptual side without song titles, VEGAS takes this idea to the max, originally released as one massive block of music and sound.

Keyboards do predominate, perhaps to excess, and the music - while sometimes diverting - could have used more variety and nuance. So too the subject matter, which was basically my own reaction to visiting Las Vegas for the first time, in its waning days as a mob playground.

I remember finally reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas shortly after completing this album, and being embarrassed at how pedestrian my “insights” had been… but hopefully it works as an honest report of what it was like going there for a neophyte.

This would be my last album with Eric Scott on drums, to be followed by Greg Grey, Terry Rodman, and finally myself.
