about

Another tape that became part of the Great Remastering Wars of 2010, this digital version of SHE'S A CLIMBER mostly sounds better than the bottom-heavy cassettes of yore... however, many of the Master tapes were either lost or deteriorated with time, resulting in some fancy footwork hunting down usable copies.

Track 6, coming at the end of a substandard reel of tape, barely made it past the playback head one final time for this digital release. However, it has since been restored from Uncle Doug's cassette collection (along with a new remaster of "Nicole's New Car." It's My Memory and Saint Ignatious Glowed both benefit from a track by track remaster, while the remaining songs have been heavily EQ'd to temper the annoying bottom from my having oversaturated the tapes back when.

Finally, a short piece removed to speed up proceedings toward the end of side two has been reinserted (Yesterday's Laundry Parts 1 & 2) because, like, why the hell not?

Like many of my albums, I have an uneasy relationship with this one. My screed against Weird Al is silly and unnecessary, Susan Estrich grew up to be a defender of Roger Ailes, and She's A Climber is quite mean to a very nice girl who was actually engaged when I met her. However, I do very much like the other songs, even the interminable synth ploddings which became less fashionable as time moved on.

This upload includes the original concluding track (Yesterday's Laundry, which restates many of the preceding themes) and a demo version of It's My Memory.
