ORIGINAL LINER NOTES

By way of explanation: "Please Do Not Exit Through Playland" is a sign found inside McDonald's restaurants with outdoor Playland Parks for children. Taken out of context this statement suggests many meanings, a few of which I've tried to explore. In other words, this is a Concept Album (sort of.)

BANDCAMP UPLOAD NOTES

PLAYLAND was the last of my tapes to feature primitive drum tracks created by a Moog-like synthesizer, as well as the synthesizer patches themselves (the oscillators died during the follow-up, which was never released.)

After the highly experimental tapes COMPOSITE and TOO COOL TO GO SWIMMING, the fairly straight-ahead music on this album was a relief to my few fans at the time.

Listeners found "Kitty," "I Was Frightened Too," and "The Death of Mr. Man" to be humorous and fun. My infatuation with Leo Kottke first appears on this tape with my cover of "Voluntary Target." John Gibson and I (known together as BERTH) jam on "Simian Romp." And finally, the title track incorporates several contrasting sections & was recently revisited for I DON'T KNOW TOMORROW.

In 1985 my handful of fans would widen with my introduction to the Mail Music Network. Since I did not believe any single one of my tapes was good enough to introduce myself, I instead edited a BEST OF DINO DIMURO compilation with a lavish illustrated booklet. However, it was TROUBLE AT THE MUTUAL ADMIRATION SOCIETY, awash as it was in the glory of my brand new Casio keyboard, that gave me a foothold within the network and in the small music publications of the time.

Because the original 1/4" master had lost high end over the years, this New Upload was mastered using a pristine cassette from the library of Uncle Doug.
