When Christmas comes to Andytown Packs of cats and doggie thugs abound When Christmas comes to Andytown Don't look for Sam, he's got his wife tied down Suicides will multiply To mark His birth, teenagers all get high Don't want to be in Andytown The mistletoe is AIDS-infested now Andytown sings Christmas tunes To the beasts they keep in darkened rooms Roasting nuts that you cannot eat Sugarplums choke children in their sleep Santa Clause passes overhead He never stops, just throws rocks instead The Mayor pees in a pot of stew They serve it free to transients and fools The Mayor's son has a special wish His teacher's tied and burned up as a witch Andytown is a grisly place It stands alone for those who have no faith Hope I never see you 'round I'm stuck 'til Spring when we tear Easter Down When we tear Easter down

about

The passage of 1987 to 1988 was a fruitful but difficult time for me.

Early in 1987 I'd made a major upgrade to my home studio with the purchase of a new digital synthesizer and drum machine, both made by Kawaii. However, in the fall of 1987 it was clear something was seriously wrong with my lower back. Though I was excited to record with my new equipment, my pain was so extreme that I cut down my project "High School Football Game" from a full album to an EP (pretty much my only one!).

On New Years morning 1988 my back went into full seizure, and it took months of exercise and therapy to even function. I was able to complete a new album titled "I Have A Purpose" but sharp-eared listeners could tell that about 40% of the album was made up of archival material. Nonetheless, it's an album that many listeners regard as a favorite.

Fast forward 34 years, when Gajoob editor Bryan Baker asked me to dig up some of my earliest tapes for an old interview he's posting online. Of course Mission Creep happens easily at DiMurotapes, and suddenly I'd stumbled onto a small stash of outtakes meant both for "I Have A Purpose" or for collaborations with Don Campau. I began to post these tracks to the IHAP page, but there were so many that I decided to create an album just for these also-rans.

There's nothing earth-shattering here, but the excitement of having a new toy is palpable within theres tracks. Anyone familiar with IHAP will note very similar instrumentation and arrangements.

Hope you like it!
