about

In early 1988 I released the 6-song cassette HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME because I had severe back episodes and had to prepare for surgery. Although I was able to rally enough to start work on this new album, I still had to rely heavily on archival recordings to gather enough material. It's certainly a mixed bag, but there are highlights to be found.

The title track is built around an angry phone call from my girlfriend Suzanne, which then moves into a wild keyboard pastiche. ROBOT MARGARET is a silly idea but was one of the few songs I actually composed on music paper. THEY BURNED UP THE EVIDENCE and MARIE ANNE have been favorites of many listeners.

It's THE BERTH SUITE where most of the vault raiding commenced, and though it isn't strictly "fresh" material, I was glad to put together a montage of some of the nicer moments that John and I had shared in that past couple years.
