M.R.D.Reviews Exceptionally unique. As a listener and maker of DIY (self-proclaimed) music.. it’s intriguing to find someone from a different era approaching things similarly. It seems ahead of its time. Yes, the R. Stevie Moore’s were around in and before the 80’s. Yes, there are probably others to thank for this kind of approach. But as I’ve discovered it. One of those people should be Dino DiMuro. A pioneer of “doing what you feel”. Making art, your way. But... not being so uptight about it. Ju Favorite track: Sucking Coffee And Reading The Times.

about

My third “Official” cassette release, RIVALRY INSANITY, had been something of a breakthrough. The few listeners I’d cultivated had been polite enough about the first two, but RIVALRY was an unmistakably popular tape across the board.

So what did I do? I doubled down on the experimentation and jettisoned most of rock melodies and humor for COMPOSITE, and as a girlfriend summed it up: “You went too far!”

Now, any time I create music that favors numerical complexity over accessibility, my shorthand is that it’s “like Composite!”

The biggest shocker is that I actually have a lot of affection for these blocky, Moog-like patterns; this was also among the albums I was happiest to remaster, as I was able to remove or fix many of the hard-edge razor splices that were required to make this damned thing.

This album also features the earliest appearance of Eric Scott on drums, though because it’s just a tape loop, I don’t really count it as his debut.
